Expanding access to hands-on learning and research opportunities and continuing to grow our sponsored research and extramural funding remain core tenets of WKU’s mission. To aid in these endeavors, we spent the last five years transforming our Center for Research and Development into a true headquarters for our Innovation Campus – furthering educational and future employment opportunities for our students while also growing the economic strength and diversity of the communities we serve.

Emerging tech company latest addition to WKU Innovation Campus

According to a news release, MyXR, Inc. will support emerging technology by building “a global augmented reality, AI and engagement ecosystem to optimize and empower the everyday experience of sports, work, entertainment and community worldwide.” The company’s mission is to expand opportunities and jobs for businesses and nonprofits across the state. 

But why did MyXR, Inc. chairman Hans Koch choose Bowling Green as its headquarters? According to Koch, Bowling Green checked all the boxes. 

Texas-based telehealth company will bring innovative health care services to the commonwealth, creating 33 full-time jobs

Today, Gov. Andy Beshear highlighted a new addition within the state’s health care industry as Lunae LLC, the management service organization of Oria Health, plans to establish its corporate headquarters at the Western Kentucky University Innovation Campus, investing $266,000 and creating 33 quality Kentucky jobs.

“Ensuring that Kentuckians from every corner of the state have access to quality health care services is critical to the commonwealth’s continued success and growth,” said Gov. Beshear. “Innovative companies providing quality services and high-paying jobs, like Lunae, increasingly are choosing Kentucky to locate and grow their business. I want to thank company leadership for believing in the commonwealth and Southcentral Kentucky and I looking forward to their future success.”

AI company selects Bowling Green as location for U.S. headquarters

beingAI Corporation announced plans to locate its new headquarters at the Western Kentucky University Innovation Campus in Bowling Green. Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Ron Bunch said this will revolutionize the Bowling Green Community. “Bringing an artificial intelligence and that technology to our community will help underpin will help many initiatives we want to move forward on,” Bunch said. 

Buddy Steen, the CEO of the WKU Innovation Campus, claims that this will bring growth to the community as well. 
“Not only do they bring their talent here, they can bring their wealth, they can bring their network, and that really creates economic development,” Steen said. He added, “And for us, economic development is about increasing the overall standard of living culturally and economically.”

Heavy metal: Local nonprofit to spur state’s metals industry

Bourbon, horses, and … metal fabrication? If a newly formed nonprofit organization based in Bowling Green meets its goals, the Bluegrass State will soon be associated as closely with steel and aluminum as it now is with thoroughbreds and sipping whiskey.

The Metals Innovation Initiative, launched in September and housed at Western Kentucky University’s Innovation Campus at Nashville Road and Campbell Lane, has brought together industry leaders, educators and government officials who share the goal of rebranding Kentucky into the preeminent destination for metals innovation.
